I was reading just the other day that we speak to ourselves at a rate of 1300 words per minute!
Wow, thats pretty impressive but no wonder we can get exhausted , my mind boggles wondering if this is every minute of every day or do we sometimes give ourselves a break or sometimes do we accelerate to 1500 words per minute!
So, what are we saying to ourselves that we need to say so much? Are we being nice?
If we are at a good place in our life and all is going well, we may be telling ourselves some quite nice things like...
* Way to go girlfriend, you're doing well.
* My goodness, your butt does look good in those jeans.
* Your house looks fantastic!
but chances are you maybe at some stage in your life where you are feeling a bit broken and hurt and you could be telling yourself some very different things like...
* You will never amount to anything.
* The house looks trashed.
* You should know better.
Before long these thoughts can turn to really harmful if we are not careful to make a decision to be nicer to ourselves, I had struggled with guilt and condemnation with my self talk for years until I made a decision that instead of listening to myself, I was going to start talking to myself and being nice , sometimes we need to challenge our attitudes, thoughts and habits.
Try it! You'll love yourself for it.
About Me
WELCOME TO MY JOURNEY THROUGH LIFE!
Welcome to my newly revamped Blog. A lot has happened since I last blogged in June and it seems like such a long time ago.
I am a wife of one husband, and a mother of 5 kids, although they don't seem like kids, they are all taller than me and and range in age from 17 -26, four boy kinds and one girl kind. At times I make a huge effort to understand them and then I get exhausted and practise putting on make-up instead, I feel I get that right sometimes!! If you don't agree, I don't need to know, thanks anyway!
The kid in the picture on the sides, thats me, I felt it necessary to let you see yourself that I had the whole fashion thing happening when I was 8, even knew how to accessorise with the clip in my hair and the peg holding my cape on, was wooden, not some plastic junk!
I have just launched a new business that I am excited about called "THIS IS WHO I AM". So I will pop over every now and then and share something funny, wise, stupid, sad and hopefully inspiring.
I want to hear from you, drop me a line, and for those who have asked me to write about something in particular, I'm getting on to it!
Many times I have been asked to start blogging so I have finally taken the plunge. My blog is going to be about everyday life and sharing the journey with you, hopefully you will be encouraged and I will learn how to do life better.
I have a busy, fun, crazy life but don't know that I would swap it in a hurry for a quiet, boring life, although every now and then would be nice.
I will be adding interesting and funny photos along the way!

Looking forward to the journey.

self talk... why is it so hard to hear the truth. We need to be aware of were most of it comes from, they truely are the lies deep within us.
ReplyDeleteSometimes my self talk is the voices of people who are more like ghosts in my life since they have moved on years ago, people in past who said things that were not very nice. (Nothing medically strange going on in my head that needs medication, I know they're not "real.") Somedays the voice becomes my own.
ReplyDeleteBut on other days its much like you have said. I was once told to do affirmations, at the moment I'm reviewing it, but instead I'm looking for bible verses. If you know any that are good for positive seld talk I'd love to see them here.
